Started with the objective of providing a meeting ground for nature lovers and an opportunity to explore, Prakriti, the Nature Club at IIM Ahmedabad, is now a hub for nature appreciation and environmental consciousness in the IIM A community. Prakriti lights up the campus with its workshops, bird-watching trips, competitions and social initiatives throughout the year.
This blog is its scrapbook, and will chronicle its activities, along with sharing information. Here’s introducing Team Prakriti 2014-15!
An environmentalist who converted her passion into profession, she is an Environmental Planner pursuing the Fellow Programme in Management (FPM) in the domain of climate change management. She also enjoys sketching and painting.
Saurabh has a post graduate diploma in forestry, and loves wildlife and nature. He is an avid trekker and has trekked many times in the states of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand in India.
Born and brought up in a socially and environmentally active family, Rugved studied in the prestigious Smt. Sulochanadevi Singhania School, graduated from VIT University in 2011, and worked at Sulzer pumps for a year and a half in project management. He is greatly influenced by the ideas of leading personalities like Arun Deshpande, Anil Bokil, Arvind Kejriwal, Medha Patkar and Madhav Gadgil on sustainable living, all of whose lectures he has attended.
Ravi has worked with Samsung R&D India as a Software Developer and holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Ropar. Ravi enjoys puzzles, studying human psychology, writing fiction and is a die-hard Chelsea FC fan.
Prathamesh is an engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee in the 2011 batch. He has worked with Reliance Industries as a manager for almost 2 years.
A nature enthusiast, Mahesh is keen to work on simple management ideas towards environmental and social issues through affiliation between NGOs and student communities. His interests include trekking and football.
A fresh BBA graduate from Sikkim Manipal University, Kumar likes acting, singing and creative writing, and is enthusiastic about nature.
Chetana is a Biomedical Engineer from Hyderabad, and an avid trekker and bird-watcher. She was part of an NGO called IYCN, which created awareness about environmental change. With IYCN, she has also participated in rallies on environmental awareness and has conducted carbon audits in commercial organisations.
Bharat is a Mechanical Engineer from College of Engineering, Trivandrum. A nature enthusiast, he has previously worked as the General Secretary of the National Service Scheme unit in his college. He also loves organizing trips and, of course, being part of them. Bharat is this club’s Coordinator for 2014-15.
An MHRD scholar, Arthi has published 4 international papers and participated in the 4th Science Conclave. She is a member of IEEE & ICASIT and stood 9th in her state’s Matriculation Examination. She writes simple poems, plays badminton, has organized various environmental campaigns and has worked for National Green Corps during graduation.
A nature lover and an aspiring explorer, Aparna never misses an opportunity to see that rare bird or visit a waterfall. Among other things, she also loves to read and listen.
An aerospace engineer from the first ever batch of the Indian Institute of Space Science and Technology, Abhinav has worked with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and has begun to explore his fondness for nature after joining IIMA. He is also deeply interested in the areas of civic hygiene and waste disposal.
